Hi everyone! I hope you’re all wonderful.
In case you hadn’t noticed, we’re now 1 week into December… A.K.A, Christmas is just around the corner, and a million people will prop up their Christmas trees today, shroud their homes in tinsel, whack on Michael Buble and scoff 100 Celebrations.
SO, I believed this was the perfect time to publish a very popular blog post: The Christmas Tag! The Christmas Tag is essentially a bunch of Christmassy-focused questions, so enjoy, pull on ya Santa hat, and let’s get stuck in.
1. What is your favourite Christmas film?
ELF, no question about it. If you say you don’t like it, you’re lying. And, if you say you’ve never seen it, just leave the room please.
2. Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Nope, not that I remember anyway. I’ve definitely seen shitloads of snow, but I don’t think it’s ever fallen on Christmas day!
3. Where do you usually spend Christmas?
Usually at home with my family, although recently we’ve started to go out for Christmas dinner, which personally I really dislike.
Why? Because for some reason it’s apparently hard for anywhere to cook a decent vegetarian roast (last year mine consisted of a sad plate of frozen veggie sausages and dry potatoes with no gravy – Christmas dinner goals!) Also, I can’t really lie on the sofa in a onesie eating Quality Street in a restaurant, can I?
4. What is your favourite Christmas song?
I like old traditional ones, like Santa Claus is Coming To Town and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. Justin Bieber and his ‘Mistletoe’ can climb into the nearest bin.
5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Not really… I have before, but my Mum usually refuses. Although, I remember opening pyjamas on Christmas eve a few times.
6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
YES – this is the only question in a quiz I ever get bang on, thank you. Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and of course Rudolph the bae.
7. What Christmas traditions do you look forward to most?
I always get so excited to put up the Christmas tree – I absolutely love decorating it and drowning it in cheap decorations. By the time I’m finished it looks like an elf threw up on it.
8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
We’ve been using the same fake tree my entire life – every year we vow to get a real one, but just never have. The shitty, 20 year old fake one is part of our Christmas tradition now!
9. What is your all-time favourite Christmas food?
Every year I always get tonnes of chocolate, so whenever I smell anything chocolatey it reminds me of Christmas! I’d probably say a Lindtt Reindeer or something.
10. Do you prefer giving gifts or receiving gifts?
I mean… let’s be honest, probably the latter. I always get so excited for specific presents I know I’m receiving… guilty.
But, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loooove Christmas shopping and planning presents for my family. I just don’t have the funds to spoil people as much as I’d like to! Although, I have bought some of my favourite people epic Christmas presents this year, and I’m so excited to see them opened.
11. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
I remember a couple of years ago my Nan got me a box with loaaaads of makeup for Christmas with so many of my favourite things, like the Naked 2 Palette and Nars Sheer Glow Foundation! It was a dream to open.
12. What would be your dream place to visit for the Christmas season?
Cliche, but New York. I’d just wanna live as Buddy the elf for one day and run around looking at all the Christmas trees. Also, somewhere like Lapland where it’s really snowy and you can get pulled around by huskies! That would be amazing.
13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or a failure?
I am sort of a pro… it really depends on the shape of the present and quality of the paper. God, I sound like a depressed middle aged Mother.
Really, though, if I’m wrapping an awkwardly shaped present and the paper is some shit jobby from Poundland, I’ll fail miserably. If not, I’m a pro.
14. What’s your most memorable Christmas moment?
A few years ago the Nutcracker Ballet was on at a theatre near us, so my Mum took my sister and I to see it. Expecting some beautiful, elegant, Christmassy show, we were met with… uh, a ‘modern ballet.’ If you don’t know what a modern ballet is, I wouldn’t recommend it. It consisted of the dancers thumping around rather NOT elegantly, and my Mum and sister embarrassingly howling with laughter at the ‘men in leggings’, much to the disgust of the poncy audience. Oops.
15. What made you find out about Santa?
Oh god, this is a funny story. My sister and I (I think I was about 7, she was 9) found some Christmas wrapping paper. We were confused, because it was October. We then both gave each other a look of horror… surely not?
We agreed that we’d remember the paper pattern, and if our stockings contained presents wrapped in it… well, Mumma was apparently a big fat old man with a white beard.
We walked down the stairs together on Christmas Day morning, holding hands *it was dramatic af, I assure you* and my sister went and looked at the wrapping paper, turned around and said ‘…it’s the same.’ Safe to say my day was ruined.
16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
Naaah, not really… if you wanna change something in your life, do it. Don’t wait until next year *I say as I wait until New Year to renew my gym membership.*
I hope you all enjoyed this light-hearted post, and I wish you all relaxing, food-filled, alcohol-saturated Christmases!
Love, Dayna x
