Unboxing The Birchbox – November 2017

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well.

Today’s blog post is showing all you lovely people what was in the Birchbox this month.

If you’re unaware, the Birchbox is a beauty subscription box – every month, you get sent a box with 5 little beauty treats in, test-size and full-size, of makeup, skincare and what not. Bloody perfect for a makeup lover like me.

If you read my blog post about what was in the Birchbox last month, you’ll know that I’m just absolutely in love with this whole concept; it’s something to look forward to when I come home from work and find lots of little treats inside!

This month, Birchbox collaborated with Vogue, to hand-pick a selection of products from the Vogue 100 Beauty Hall of Fame. Let me show you!

Best first – this was 100% the product I was most happy with in this months box. It’s really nice to see high-end brands in the subscription box, as it makes you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth.

Yes, the sample size is smaller than my little toe, but it’s more than enough for me to try the product out properly, as its been on my wishlist for ages and I’ve always refrained from buying it because of its price.

I’m really loving this bronzer – it’s got such a gorgeous colour and I like how there’s absolutely 0 shimmer; it makes it ideal for contouring! 10/10 for this one.

Right, let’s get this out the way now. To put it lightly, this product is a shambles.

Anything that has the words ‘overnight tan mask’ together just screams disaster to me; I’m not a fake tanner at all, and was genuinely going to pass this product on to someone else. But, like the trooper I am, I decided to risk it and put some on before bed last night so I could let you guys know my thoughts.

Subsequently, I woke up this morning representing a clementine.

Firstly – how on earth are you supposed to SLEEP with a mask on? Unless you slumber like a statue, it’s a no go. I woke up several times with my duvet sticking to my face.

I’d completely forgot about what I’d done until I was brushing my teeth and realised I had strips of orange going down my nose, chin etc. Not a good look.

The reviews seem to be very mixed, but for me, this is a big fat no, and I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s smelly, its unpractical, and the result was… well. I’ve said enough here! Sorry, Birchbox, but this product was a let-down!

I was pleased to see this product in my box this month – I’ve recently decided to give my nails a break from acrylics *cry* so have been painting my nails a lot, but bloody dismayed that my polish lasts about 1 day without chipping.

Hey presto – I used this over my nail varnish, and it’s stayed in tact, no chips in sight. Considering this product retails for £9, I was pleasantly surprised to find I had a full-size!

A Birchbox exclusive, I wondered what on earth this was when I saw it in my package. If you hate the chore of having to clean your makeup brushes, this nifty little tool makes it a lot easier!

You simply put your fingers in to hold it, pump a bit of shampoo/soap on the bristles and run it under water while you wash your brushes on top of it. Much easier, quicker and cleaner than rinsing the brushes in your hands!

Hair products don’t excite me too much, but I’m still willing to try them all as my hair gets particularly dry!

A problem I usually get is that my hair gets greasy very easily, and therefore doesn’t take to products like this very well!

Thankfully, this ‘no oil oil’ contains no oil (no bloody way) so I’ve found it hasn’t clung to my hair as much as other products do! I’m always looking for some more volume in my hair, so this is much appreciated (also because it smells heavenly.) I’m looking forward to getting some more use out of it!

So, that seems to round up the contents of my Birchbox this month! I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to try new brands and products.

Speak to you all soon!

Love, Dayna x
